Advice Week 2026: Advice Saves
We're joining AdviceUK this Advice Week to celebrate the impact of advice services and the people who deliver them. Advice services are essential to our local communities and Crosslight Advice are proud to be a part of the advice provision at all of our locations.
Being an advice organisation, we help people understand their rights, access the support they are entitled to and resolve problems. To ensure advice organisations can continue to meet growing demand, we are calling on those who are able to to invest in the advice sector and its workforce.
One of our Debt Advisers, Shequila, has been supporting clients for the last 2 years at Crosslight Advice, and she is incredibly passionate about the positive impact debt advice can have on people in need.
“Debt Advice is important because so many people suffer in silence when there are many free services available that will offer non judgemental support. Having such support available in local communities essentially brings debt advice to your home, ensuring you are comfortable while on this journey.”
Our clients testify to the impact the debt advice they received had on their lives - here are some of their stories:
Melissa was trying to keep her home and children safe and warm… “I had a gas debt around £800. I am a single mum and victim of domestic violence. I was struggling with my finances and [Crosslight] helped me pay off my debt. Now, I am happy and more comfortable with my finances. [Crosslight] improved my day to day life, I was broken and [they] gave me a new life.”
Darryl shared…
“When I was facing eviction and in a dark time in my life, [Crosslight] absolutely got things turned around for me. They took over with communication to my council and never failed to keep me updated regularly. I began to eat and sleep again. Crosslight were my saviour. I can't thank them enough. Reach out to Crosslight as they go above and beyond. Just fantastic help and advice from Crosslight.”
“It was a great thing for me to have been in contact with the Crosslight. I was in distress of my situation, being in a debts of various degrees. Frustrated and confused, no job and facing a hard situation. Getting in touched with Crosslight, I was given a warm welcome by the team. They gave me a listening ear and handled my case with a professional process which have me feel relief. Step by step, they explained my issues and the solution to it. I honestly appreciate them for opening my eyes on what I didn't know. I was issued a food bank ticket to support my cost of living. I was encouraged and bold enough to be in contact with my creditors and worked on an agreement with them. Crosslight really provided relief to my heart with their counselling… the organisation is exceptional and they should be proud of the organisation.” Ishmal
In Adelaine’s words:
“I was struggling with serious financial difficulties that caused me a lot of stress and worry, and it affected my daily life and my family. I felt overwhelmed and anxious about the future. Crosslight’s support helped me get back on my feet. I am very grateful for everything they have done for me.”
It is not just Crosslight who are transforming the lives of their communities. Every day advice services across the country help people resolve problems with debt, housing, benefits, employment, legal issues and more. But rising demand and insecure funding mean too many services are being forced to do more with less, stretching their resources and impacting their capacity. Help us spread the word and advocate for stronger support for advice services across the UK.
Please consider donating towards Crosslight Advice so that we can continue to restore dignity and renew hope to our clients and local communities.
